After many years writing on cruise critic I felt that I would like to


have more personal contact with our cruising visitors so I have

put together the following free tours  starting in June 2018. Please

note that I will not be available every day so if I am not at the

meeting point at the time stated then the tour is not happening. I

regret that I have no way of  knowing this in advance.


Free Tour 1 for cruisers who intend to explore Rostock

independently but would like a guide for the train/tram journey

and commentary on the sights between Warnemünde and


The guided tour  is free but you will need a single-journey ticket 

for the train/tram costing  2.10€. pp 

Meet at the ticket machine on Warnemünde train station

between 8:30 and 8:45. Help with the ticket machine (if


Board the train at 8:55. Departing 9:03. (Latecomers can join

the group on the train)

Arrive Rostock 9:24, change to #4,5 or 6 tram.

Travel through the city via Stein Tor, Neuer Markt, Langestr.

to Kröpeliner Tor

Short walk to Kröpeliner-str and the inner city pedestrian area.

I leave you for my voluntary shift in the Kröpeliner Tor

Explore Rostock and return to the ship independently or return

via Free Tour 2 as described below

Things to see and do in the Kröpeliner Tor.

The only remaining city gate with public access, HQ of the

Rostock Historical Workshop. Learn about the history of the city

and gate from the friendly, English speaking volunteers. Sit and

 relax with a 'cuppa' - coffe or tea; or a cold drink - juice or

bottled water.  Entry to the ground floor is free.

Visit the exhibition on 5 floors, celebrating the 800th

 anniversary of the founding of the city in 1218. Enjoy the views of


the city and surrounds from the windows of the 5th floor.

Entry to the upper floors 3€ pp.

Take a 1 hour walking tour of the inner city, with a member of

the society. All speak excellent English.


Tour cost – 5€pp.

Free Tour 2 for cruisers who would like to take a different

route back to the ship. The cost of the ticket is exactly the same,

2 .10€ and the time taken only slightly longer. There is also

the possibility of a short guided walk through Warnemünde if you


Meet at the Kröpeliner Tor between 2:45 and 3:00.

Short walk to Doberaner Platz, first area to be built outside the

city walls now a bustling local shopping and cafe area.

Board a tram for a ride through some very interesting suburbs.

Join the train to Warnemünde at a suburban station.

A short walk through Warnemünde if you have the time and

energy !

Goodbye and return to your ship.
