 Wisamar is a UNESCO World Heritage town with many original, well

restored Medieval and Renaissance buildings.  It was a very important

Hanseatic port.

 Attractions include one of the largest market places in Germany

surrounded by original buildings, several fine churches, the Civic History

Museum in the 16th century Schabbelhaus, a ducal palace and of course

the harbour offering all kinds of delicious fishy snacks. There are plenty

of outdoor restaurants and cafes.

How to get there from Warnemünde

Take the S-bahn to Rostock Hbf.

Changing trains in Rostock.


Take the stairs 1 flight down to the main concourse. The electronic

departure boards are on the walls on each side. The departure time and

track will be indicated.  Take the  appropriately numbered elevator or set

of stairs. The platforms are clearly numbered and there are electronic

indicator boards showing the departure time, destination and

intermediate stops of the next train on each.


The train you require is the RE to Wismar


 RE trains on which the Länder ticket is valid:-

Depart Rostock Hbf.        9:06       10:06      11:06     12:06

Arrive Wismar Bhf.        10:15       11:15      12:15     13:15


Leave the train at Wismar - 17th stop on the route.

Exit the station by the main entrance, cross the road and follow the

water-way to Schweinsbrucke, the bridge with the bronze pigs. The

St Nicholai church is on the right.  Follow the waterway down to the

harbour or turn left and walk up the hill to the Market Place and the

Tourist Information office.  

Walking time to the harbour or the tourist office about 10mins


To return to Warnemünde

The train which you require is the RE to Tessin via Rostock.

Depart Wismar.                15:42      16:42      17:42     18:42

Arrive Rostock Hbf.          16:51     17:51      18:51      19:51
